DeBoom

Eventide

DeBoom is a surgical low-frequency EQ plugin that uses Eventide's patented Structural Split technology to separate incoming audio into Transient and Tonal signals, then applies separate parametric EQ processing to each. It solves common low-frequency problems like "muddiness" from kick drums and bass by reducing boom on the Tonal component while preserving the natural transient attack, offering a cleaner alternative to traditional EQ approaches for these challenging mix issues.

Key Features

01Patented Structural Split technology splits audio into Transient and Tonal signals
02Dual parallel parametric EQs for Transient and Tonal processing
03DeBoom control knob from no processing to maximum attenuation
04Output Gain control with -60dB to +12dB range
05Low-latency design with 3,592 samples at 44.1/48kHz, 7,176 at 88.2/96kHz
06Undo/Redo state history
07Designed to reduce boom without sacrificing transient character

Things to Try

  • 01Adjust the DeBoom knob from leftmost (no processing) to rightmost (maximum attenuation) to dial in the amount of boom reduction needed
  • 02Use the Gain control to compensate for level changes introduced by DeBoom processing, with available range of -60dB to +12dB
  • 03Employ the plugin on kick drums to maintain or enhance low thud without muddying the sound as a traditional low-shelf boost might
