Plugin Library offers powerful search capabilities that go beyond simple text matching. Whether you know the exact plugin name or just have a vague idea of what you're looking for, search will help you find it.

Basic Search

1

Open the search bar

Click the search bar at the top of your library, or press Cmd/Ctrl + F to focus it instantly.
2

Type your query

Enter any text to search. Results appear as you type. You can search by:
  • Plugin name (e.g., "Pro-Q", "Sausage Fattener")
  • Vendor/brand (e.g., "FabFilter", "Waves")
  • Category (e.g., "compressor", "delay")
  • Description keywords (e.g., "transparent", "vintage")
3

Select a result

Click on any result to view the plugin details, or use arrow keys and Enter to navigate with your keyboard.

Quick tip

Press Escape to clear the search and return to your full library view.

Semantic Search

Plugin Library uses AI-powered semantic search that understands meaning, not just keywords. This means you can search using natural language descriptions.

Example searches:

  • "warm analog EQ" - Finds EQs described as warm or analog-sounding
  • "clean transparent limiter" - Finds limiters known for transparency
  • "808 bass" - Finds plugins for creating 808-style bass sounds
  • "vocal de-esser" - Finds de-essers and plugins with de-essing capabilities

How it works

Semantic search compares the meaning of your query against plugin descriptions, use cases, and sonic characteristics in our database. This helps you find plugins even when you don't know the exact name.

Search Operators

Use search operators to narrow down results more precisely:

vendor:fabfilter

Show only plugins from a specific vendor

type:compressor

Filter by plugin category/type

tag:favorite

Search within your custom tags

has:notes

Find plugins where you've added personal notes

Combine operators

You can combine operators with regular search terms. For example: vendor:waves compressor finds all Waves compressors in your library.

Search vs. AI Assistant

Both search and the AI assistant help you find plugins, but they serve different purposes:

Use Search when:

  • You know what you're looking for
  • You want to browse your collection
  • You need quick, precise results

Use AI Assistant when:

  • You need recommendations
  • You want to describe a sound/task
  • You're not sure which plugin to use
